Have you ever posted the testimony about when God asked you to curse someone's cancer?

If so... do you know where I can find it?
If not... would you consider writing it up and either posting it here, or emailing me.

Communion - Renewing the Covenant?

Where do we get this tradition that taking communion is renewing the covenant between God and ourselves?

I find no scriptural basis for it.

The prayers are for blessing and sanctitification of the bread and wine to the souls that partake of it. It is to do it in rememberance of Jesus' sacrifice of His body and blood. It is a witness that we do always remember Him. It is that we may have His Spirit to be with us. It is that we are willing to take His name upon us. It is that we are willing to keep His commandments.

But I see no place where the covenant has stopped and needs to be renewed.

If you look at the covenant like a health and life insurance contract....Is it broken and you need a new one if you get sick? Do you need a new one if you die?

If we had to renew every time we sinned, we would do it more often than once a month....

May be cancer.

The doctor found a "mass" in my prostate. Said it was either an infection or cancer. I am on anti-biotics and will see again in about a month. If it hasn't improved he will do a biopsy.
Please pray for me.

Well, after a grueling 9 months- waddling around for the last 3- We will be welcoming baby # 5 tomorrow morning via c-section! We are thinking of naming her Abigail Rene' but we will see what she looks like! I will post a picture later this week when I get home! We are all pretty excited for our new little baby!

Ever heard of Joel Osteen? He did a book signing at my husband's store yesterday- it went really well, and my husband got me a signed copy of his latest book. I've only read a few pages so far, but it seems pretty good. Just wondering if any one else has read his stuff and what you think.

Having been snowed in for a while now. It was on sunday morning we watched a t.v. pastor. He taught on what I percieved to be the sin of self pity.
Well that is what I have been tempted with the last few days. I know it is not for me, yet I would ask for you ladies to pray and agree with me for this temptation to be avoided. I confess daily that I am thankful . And I know that is a good way to overcome this temptation.
And I am thankful for this forum to come to for fellowship .

Kings and their kingdoms

We, in this, hopefully, still free land...have little or no experience with kings and their ways.
I have been looking at this. These are some of my thoughts:

It is one thing to petition, pray that a king do something for you. He may grant it...or not. Either way, you should be grateful that He heard you.
Kings get lots of feedback. Much from sycophants and people with political agendas. It is good to them to hear true gratefulness.

It is quite another thing to be the king's ambassador....to represent His authority...to wield His power to wage war...to bring His word to the world.

He calls out ambassadors from among His people.

But what if one takes this authority and power and represting Him in His name without His calling? Whether this one is good or evil....will they not be accounted as those who were of His calling? If they are good, He will commend them, as He was needing ambassadors. If they are evil He will add to...

Medicare

My wife Rose and I are both going on Medicare effective Jan. 1, 2010. We have our medicare supplements set up except for the Part D. It really looks like it is going to cost us more than the insurance she was recieving at work, and is much more compicated. Please help us to make good decisions. Also please pray for Rose. She has respiratory problems which seem to be agravated by her work environment. Don't see anyway for her to retire in this current economy. Thanks, Rick.

I think I might have asked this question before- I am reading your book, Doug, on spiritual warfare and you mention consecrating your home so evil spirits are forbidden entrance. How is this done? Is this something I can do for my home or do I need and Elder or Priest or someone else to do it for me? And do I need to ask my husband or can I just do it without him knowing? I don't think he would mind if it was me doing it- he might roll his eyes but that would be all- but if I needed someone else to come and do it, I think he might object- plus I have no clue who I would ask.
Great book, by the way- I'm getting a copy for my dad as a late b-day present.

New Prophet Joseph Smith Photograph Found...

The Reorganized LDS Church or Community of Christ Church only recently uncovered it in their archives and asked our church to help authenticate it.
The Church has stated that it is "almost certainly authentic." All existing "photos" of the Prophet Joseph Smith are artist conceptions, most
of which were taken from models made from the death mask after the Prophet Joseph had died.

This photo is reportedly taken of him at the time of his incarceration in the Liberty Jail. The article in the Meridian says the Church has actually had the photo for a couple of years working on its authentication.

The LDS Church is not authenticating this picture,...
